Introduction

8PROS: great high quality phone
CONS: greedy service provider
If you're reading this more than likely you either have the E815 or you want to get one.

The E815 out of the box is a wonderfull phone. Reception and battery life is steller. Even if you only use the phone for making calls and could care less about the other features, this is still the phone to get.

Its unfortunate but the phone is heavily locked down. I plan on enabling the majority of the feature set.

Dialup Networking

This is a feature that I won't use much but it is easy to turn on. Dial ##DIALUP quickly into the phone. If done correctly you will get a message saying the dialup networking is turned on. Dial it again to turn it off.

The Other Features

I am going to point you to the links that will get you going.

The software you will need http://motorola.j2d2.net

The quick howto http://www.nuclearelephant.com/papers/e815seem.html

Please note that the guide says you don't need PST anymore. You can enter a code on your phone to do what the program does. This didn't work for me. Use PST. I did my seem edits using windows 2000.

The quick howto link you posted is not working. And i just wanted to know where i might find some other hacks that don't require a pst for the e815?... I'm a single mommy and can't afford any phone accessories at the moment.

Depends on what carrier you are with I guess. My carrier is MTS (Manitoba Telecommunication Services). It has been my experience however that Verizon does not change their security codes from the default 000000 allowing you to perhaps enable many locked features.
