Introduction

This is a quick HOWTO on packing up a Xen guest config file and sparse disk image.

The Details

I'm assuming we have a /xen directory. So change your directory to /xen. The guest we will be archiving is called server-base

• Create a directory to store everything in
  > mkdir server-base
• Copy then Xen guest config file.
  > cp /etc/xen/server-base server-base/
• Copy the disk image.
  > cp server-base.img server-base/
• Now lets tar everything up
  > tar -Scvzf server-base.tgz server-base
• Remove our temp directory.
  >rm -rf server-base

Conclusion

These are some quick notes. They should help out people who don't use tar everyday.
