Introduction

I'm migrating to virtual servers running under Xen. The benifit is that I can run some services on their own dedicate server.

Setting Up The Base Server

  • If you want to add DNS to one of our existing servers then skip this section.
  • For a real server start with the base server setup for fedora core 5.
  • For a xen guest start with the Xen guest base server for fedora core 5. Once you have the disk image you can copy it and create a new xen guest config file. Boot into the new guest and run setup. Be sure to assign a new ip address.

Setting up DNS

There is some configuring to do. Run setup and under system services and enable named on boot. Now reboot and log in to webmin to configure your name server.

Conclusion

This is a basic setup. Good Luck.
